Many of you may remember Sonoko’s cooking classes at Tortoise. Others may be familiar with her soba making workshops and onigiri rice workshops, or her work with Common Grains, or heard her on KCRW Good Food's, or maybe follow her on her website Cooks Tell a Story. Sonoko is an expert and teacher on Japanese homecooking for many locals here in Los Angeles, and we are happy to announce that Sonoko has released her second cookbook ‘Rice Craft’ with more than 30 different recipes featuring the onigiri rice ball.
This book features flavorful onigiri recipes with a range of fillings as well as master recipes for cooking rice and different meal extras to round out each creation: a miso soup to float the rice balls in, perfect soft eggs to wrap in rice, and pickled ginger to serve on the side.
More than 20 color photographs inspire new creations and teach kids and adults alike to make these creative treats.
