Sweet Rose Opening Weekend was a Sweet Success! (March
We enjoyed seeing everyone who came Saturday and Sunday for Sweet Rose’s opening pop-up event! Dessert chef, Shiho Yoshikawa and Andrea Sung, General Manager of Sweet Rose, brought great seasonal ice cream flavors including Tortoise’s exclusive flavor of the month: Hojicha ice cream in a black sesame waffle cone. The combination was fantastic! Despite a slight chill in the morning and afternoon, crowds proved that any weather is ice cream weather.
“Hojicha sold out completely, candied kumquat was a clear 2nd winner, and we scooped more mint chip today. Sesame cones wow’ed everyone (with 2 separate parties buying extra cones only to enjoy as snacks), and paired especially well with the popular flavors. In addition to the ice cream, Shio’s new almond milk was also on site and as an added special treat, seasoned pour over expert Arata Doayshiki joined the Sweet Rose event to serve made-to-order pour over coffee right on our patio.
We’ll be hosting this pop-up event every fourth Sunday of the month until September so there are more opportunities to try Sweet Rose at Tortoise throughout the summer. Come on by!
